Through Eyes

Your eyes open. It’s pitch black. Waking, dream, and nightmare are one in the same. Everything is the same. Everything is black. You look into the abyss. What is real? Your hands tingle, nerves alight. Your torso weighing like lead, sheets heavier than the world. Distantly, you can hear the wind outside your window. Is there a window? Is there wind? A vague thought flits through your mind.

Nervermind.

Slowly your vision returns. Small lights appear in your vision. Stars? But you're inside, there are no stars inside. The pinpricks of light brighten, filling your vision. Growing. Growing. Growing. Gone.

It's dark again.

Did that happen?

If it did happen, did it matter? You ponder this thought. It settles into your soul. Burrowing deep into your psyche. It becomes not a thought but instead your existence, filling every pore in your body, flowing through your veins, entering your every breath. Your existence is hefty. Your eyelids heavy. Your vision fades. Fading. Fading. Fading.

Nothing.
